I didn't feel like coloring the sword......CLOSE ENOUGH. I'll color it when I come up with his family symbol. He looked a lot better on a dark background...wry....

After months of pushing it back, poor Matthias gets a new outfit! Too bad I am too busy to color him....GOOD ENOUGH

PERSONALITY

Matthias is lives his life as a fairy tale knight would, saving damsels in distress, slaying the evil. Often times, his father criticizes him for living in such a child-like fantasies but it has never discourage him. Not even betrayal can shake Matthias for he considers it an obstacle within the hero’s journey. His naïveté often gets him emotionally hurt. Matthias is also straight lace and does not believe in polygamy.

HISTORY

Matthias is the heir to the noble house of Guyre. The Guyre are known for their production of strapping young knights and birthing hipped maidens. Unfortunately, his older sister, Isolde, did not follow the Guyre women stereotype. She is fragile and weak but that gave her the opportunity to make time for academic work. Matthias adored his sister for her ambitions despite her setbacks and promised to protect her for as long as she lived.

Knighthood was not easy for the young lad. He was rather reluctant and wanted to pursue a career as a scholar. Consequently, Matthias was always slow at learning combat tactics and the ways of a knight, and he became a laughing stock of his family. At home, his father punished him for his defiance towards family tradition, which made Matthias hate being a knight more and more. The troubled boy felt so alone until he met another boy, no more than three years older than him. This boy was like his tutor and inspiration. He somehow convinced Matthias that knighthood is glorious and an important character in society.

The boys’ friendship lasted all the way to their manhood, working so beautifully in a dou. Matthias’s friend was around do often that it was as if he, too, was a Guyre himself. However, there was more to that. Blinded by this optimism and bright personality, he never saw his best friend courting his sister. Feeling so betrayed, Matthias banished his friend from seeing his sister ever again, but the boy was such a kind so in the end. He couldn’t stay mad at this friend for so long. Eventually, he entrusted his sister into his friend’s care for he realized his friend is just as strong and powerful, if not more, than he is. And now these two can truly be brothers.

During the Great War, the brothers fought side by side, protecting one another. Isolde wanted to help but she was not only fragile, she was pregnant. Instead, she searched through books for a source of power to help end the war. When she discovered the answer, Matthias felt it was only right for her husband to accompany her in their journey as he, himself, stayed behind to protect the people.

However, Matthias never expected a spirit be sent to him in his sleep. The spirit spoke of a horror and strife. Answering the spirit, the knight set out to the spoken location with his men to find Isolde’s lifeless body and in the corner was a starving infant crying for help. His friend was nowhere to be found. The unit searched high and low but no knight’s body was found. Matthias felt so betrayed yet again. He couldn’t fathom the truth: his friend cowardly ran away, letting his wife and daughter to die. Matthias swore to himself that from that day one, he’d find his friend and have vengeance.

Three years since the war has ended. Currently, Matthias has followed in the footsteps of his father. Isolde’s child has been taught that Matthias is her brother and lord and lady Guyre are her parents. All is well within the Guyre's home for now.
